Who we are
Dental Events Directory is run by Knightsbridge Academy Limited, company number 07304127, registered office 60 Cannon Street, London EC4N 6NP, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
If you just browse
You can use the whole directory without an account. We do not use analytics, advertising trackers or social media pixels.
Even so, some data is handled when you visit:
- Server and security logs. Our hosting and Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site, see your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. This keeps the site secure and working.
- Clicks to organisers. When you follow a link to an organiser’s site, we record which listing it was, the page you came from, your browser type and your country. We do not store your IP address with it. This tells us which listings are useful, and later lets us report clicks to organisers who promote with us.
- Pictures from other sites. Many listing pictures load straight from the organiser’s or the event platform’s server, so that server sees your IP address too, as with any picture online.
If you create an account
You sign in with Google, LinkedIn or Apple. We receive your name, email address and profile photo from them. We never see your password.
We then ask what you do, where you are based, your organisation and the topics you care about. And we store the courses and events you save or like. Saved items are private. Likes are counted on the listing, but your name is never shown.
We use this to run your account and to show you more relevant listings. In general terms, without naming anyone, it also helps us tell organisers and companies what kind of audience the site reaches.
If you send us a course or event
We keep the listing details and your contact details: name, email, phone if you give it, role, organisation and website. We also keep a scrambled form of your IP address, and your browser type, to stop spam. We use these to check the listing and to reply to you about it.
If you tick the box asking about featured placement, we will contact you about it. If you tick the box for occasional news, we keep the exact wording you agreed to and when, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
If you claim an organisation
To manage an organisation’s listings, you prove you work there. We keep the email address you used, the code check or the note you sent for review, and the result. Your name is not shown on the public listing. The organisation is shown as verified.
We add people who claim an organisation to our customer records, so we can support them and tell them about paid features. You can ask us to stop at any time.
Our legal bases
- Contract: running your account when you ask for one.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the site secure, checking listings, replying to the people who send them, and understanding which listings are used.
- Consent: occasional news emails, only if you ticked the box.
Who else handles your data
- Hostinger rents us the server the site and database run on.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site for security and speed.
- Google, LinkedIn and Apple, only if you sign in with them.
- Resend sends our emails, such as claim codes and replies.
- HighLevel holds our customer records for organisations that claim a listing or buy from us.
Some of these companies may process data outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as approved contract terms.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not pass the contact details of people who sign up to the organisers of the events they save or like.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you ask us to delete your account.
- Course and event submissions: up to two years after we last hear from you, unless the listing is still live.
- Click records: up to two years, then deleted or reduced to totals.
- Server and security logs: a short period, usually weeks.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your data. You can also ask us to correct it, delete it or limit how we use it. And you can object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to put it right first.
